Foreword by the Honourable Minister

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Ministry of Trade and Commerce website. This website is designed to provide general information on the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.

The Ministry of Trade and Commerce consists of nine agencies and is responsible for ensuring that these agencies are allocated annual budgets and deliver services according to their annual business plans. The Ministry also provide advice to the other Vanuatu Government ministries, agencies and the private sector on any policy issues related to trade. This website also provides relevant information about the different services the Ministry provides.

We encourage trade both domestically and internationally as well as promote tourism, innovation and Vanuatu made products. Our priority is to ensure that local tourism, innovation, and locally manufactured products gain recognition.

As the Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, I have great pleasure in welcoming you to the resources that are available through this site, and I hope that the information provided is useful for your purpose.

Vision

Our vision is aligned to that of the government, as established through the NSDP under the following
statement: “A Stable, Sustainable and Prosperous Vanuatu.”

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to facilitate and coordinate the mobilization of resources (policy, human & financial) to
strengthen and grow services provided by agencies under the Ministry to achieve the objectives of the
NSDP for the government and the country.

Policy and Strategic Framework

The Ministry and its agencies are guided by following overarching policies and strategies:
- The National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2030; also known as the People’s Plan;
- The Trade Policy Framework, under its updated version, 2019-2015; and
- The MTTCNVB Corporate Plan 2020-2023, which is due to be reviewed and upgraded in April 2021.

The Departmental structure involves three departments

Office of the Registrar of Cooperatives and Business Development Services (ORCBDS))
